Into the Second Week

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.

I’ve needed to use art as an escape this week.  I love how it can melt everything else around you if you dive in hard and let it take you where it wants to.  It’s like I live a double life or something, mama by day and artist during insanity stints that need to be pulled out of.

We are officially in the second week of ICAD2 (today!) and thankfully I’m on a good roll so far, I haven’t missed a day so I have some cards to show you.

Day 5  I went with the prompt of collage and while I was doing it I just had to take it over the to sewing machine and get some sewing going on there too.  It was fun using bits and bobs of paper and other things I had collected.

Day 6 Started as a dictionary page pasted on my index card so technically it can fit under the dictionary prompt, but you really can’t see any of that with all the other goodies I threw at it after that dried.

Day 7 was a pen or ink test which was great because my husband brought me home a new pen, he knows I’m a sucker for office supplies.  Good thing this prompt was on the list because I was soooo uninspired to chose any of the others and nothing was coming to my brain on it’s own.  I did this one in the dark of the night while everyone else slept and my mind refused to.

And Day 7…TODAY!  There are new prompts up and I was relieved.  When I saw the colours of winter as a prompt I just dove in and painted.  This is the little lady who came out to play.

I’m a little shocked but I like her!  Might need to see if she has any friends that want to come out and play.

Cheers,

B

About B

Brianne is a Canadian gal who loves living in a small town nestled at the base of the Rockies. Her full time job pays with hugs, kisses, and other such joys since she is a stay at home mama; she loves it. When tiny heads hit their pillows during naps and bedtime Brianne scampers off to grab a few moments of creating or some quiet time with her husband who is pretty good about her love affair with her sewing machine and dolls. Brianne’s first love was sewing, but even at that it was only discovered a couple years ago. A few short months ago Brianne ventured into a new addiction, doll making; she never expected to fall in love with the creating of each doll quite the way that she has. For the time being Brianne and her sewing machine have put aside sewing clothes to focus on her doll making.

These are all so wonderful! Love the use of the sewing machine, something I keep hesitating to try, but really want to. The dictionary page turned out amazing, the doodle is sweet, and the little lady is intriguing.

I bet she does have friends! Love all of the stitching – I’m always too lazy to change the spool/bobbin!

  6. I’m a sucker for the stitching but they are all wonderful cards. I can relate to art and the double life!

I love your cards. Very much. And I am grateful for your commenting on mine. I think that sometimes I lose the distinction BEtween enJOYing making art and thinking I must produce something “good” or “of value” to anyone, including myself.

What I am learning from ICAD is that we are participating together and sharing the things that don’t often get shared out loud… sometimes even out loud enough to hear ourselves.

As I have progressed in this process I am noticing that I am expecting more of myself and thus spending more time on my card. In fact, as I recognised this yesterday I decided to scrap that card and BEgin another. In DOing so I found there is some pretty significant BOLDNESS training going on here.

I am going to make the time to visit others participating in ICAD and wander at a meandering pace through the blog postings of the past week that have accumulated in my Google Reader. This is something which always brings my Balance back to center.

Sorry to ramble on here… I guess I just felt grateful for your commenting on my BE Currie ICAD posts. It’s like a conversation that hangs in the space BEtween us…

You are truly an Artist and can take many mediums and be able to express yourself through your art.
